  Categories of food industry

The food processing sector in Pakistan can be broadly divided into the following 4 subsectors:

      1. The frozen and value-added food processing industries, which include canned goods

      2. Facilities for producing and processing edible oils and fats

      3. Units that produce beverages

     4. A bakery and a confectionery production facility

           Punjab accounts for 60% of Pakistan's food sector, with Sindh at 30%, KPK at 6%, Baluchistan at 2%, and Islamabad Capital Territory at 2% following. Pakistan has more than 2500 food processing facilities overall.
